Increase HDL Cholesterol To Protect Your Heart, Lower LDL And Look And Feel Absolutely Amazing!

You know, most people worry about lowering LDL cholesterol, and rightly so. After all, it is a well known fact that high LDL cholesterol can lead to heart attacks, strokes, clots and even death. But, what most people don’t realise, is that it is equally as important to increase HDL cholesterol, to prevent heart attacks, strokes etc.

The perfect solution to cholesterol problems is to lower LDL cholesterol, increase HDL cholesterol and lower triglycerides. Focussing on just one element while ignoring the other two is very risky.

So why increase HDL cholesterol? What does it actually do? Well, for starters, it clears away LDL cholesterol. It takes the LDL out of plaque and down into the liver. The liver will then break it down and pass it out through your body. And this helps fight heart disease as it slows down the growth of plaque.

You see, over time, if your body has more LDL cholesterol than it needs, the excess will keep circulating in your blood. As time passes, the circulating LDL cholesterol can enter your blood vessel walls, and build up under the lining. This is what is known as plaque.

Plaque will begin to narrow your blood vessels, and in time, can do so to the point of blocking blood flow, causing coronary artery disease. But if you increase your HDL cholesterol levels, and keep them high, then they will reduce the level of bad cholesterol in your blood, and ultimately prevent heart disease or worse.

So let’s look at some ways you can increase HDL levels:

Get Physical

The best way to increase HDL cholesterol is to exercise briskly for about 30 minutes, five times a week. Choose something you know you will enjoy and keep up – swimming, walking, running, cycling etc.

Pick Healthier Fats

There is a limit to the amount of fat you should take. If you follow a proper heart healthy diet, then between 25 and 35 percent of your total daily calories can come from fat, but, only 7 percent of your total daily calories should be saturated fat.

So try to avoid foods high in saturated fats and trans fats, which raise LDL cholesterol and damage your blood vessels.

Give Up Smoking

Quitting smoking can increase HDL cholesterol by up to 10 percent. It’s not easy giving up, but with the right help and support, it is possible, and the health benefits you will gain, make it worth it.

Lose Weight

If you are overweight, then losing a few pounds can increase HDL levels. For every 6 pounds you lose, you can increase HDL by 1 mg/dL. By focussing on becoming more active and eating healthier, you will be well on your way to losing weight.

Natural Nutrients

Choosing natural nutrients such as policosanol and lecithin oil will positively increase HDL cholesterol levels. And not only that, they will also lower LDL and triglycerides. As you cannot get sufficient quantities of these in foods, you will have to use a good quality natural supplement.

When your cholesterol levels are imbalanced, you tend to look and feel tired, drained, lack energy, have aches and pains etc. So it is very important to lower LDL, increase HDL and lower triglycerides, to protect your heart and look and feel amazing!
