Discovering The Truth About Products
Guide to Proper Shaving and Proper Tools to Use
Basic shaving can be quick and easy, just pick up a razor and drag it across your face until all the those prickly hair are gone. Although you may have been shaving your beard for many years now, it is still beneficial if you hear from dermatologists and barbers who have been shaving men for decades and which might help you get the best possible shave.
A good shave requires a little more effort and know-how. The objective of shaving is to get rid of repetitious thrusting of the blade on your face or scraping it with a razor repeatedly until the prickly hair is all gone. Instead, you should only give it a good single pass shave on your face.
The idea here is to stop spending time running the razor back and forth on your face, but to spend time in prepping your skin for the razor. You start by washing your face with a facial cleanser because it helps soften the protein in the hair. Using soap is harsh because it washes away that softening oil in the hair.
Next is lather it up with a shaving cream or gel and let it stay there for about two to three minutes to further soften the hair and make a one-pass shave possible. The longer you make it sit on your face, the better, although spending the time is not always practical.
Another shaving product that you will need is a brush, you cannot just rely on your fingers to lather your shaving cream unlike the shaving brush. A good brush really pushes the cream into the hair and makes it much easier to shave.
When it comes to the razor, there is no need to be fooled with a multiple-blade razors. it is enough to get a single blade razor as it can do a good shaving job, but most professionals prefer a double blade razor, and nothing more as long as you prep your hair properly. It is important that the razor you are using is sharp. Discard it if you see a nick in the blade. Men who shave their beards every day need to change the razor blade every week or two. Since you need to change blades often, it is good to stick with an inexpensive single blade razor. Three or five blade razors are usually not changed often.
Another key to having a good shave is keeping the skin hot and moist. Moisturize a towel to also prep you skin and then again during the shave to keep the hairs soft. There are kits available with the tools that you need to prep your skin and hair.
The proper way to shave is to follow the direction your hair is growing. You may get a closer shave if you go against the grain but this will make the razor burn or ingrown hairs are more likely to offshootl
